Religion: A figment of human imagination?

New Scientist article, published 28 April 2008.

“Humans alone practice religion because they’re the only creatures to have evolved imagination”

  1. releigions have meaning that goes beyond mere imagination, its largely a political construct. If you take all of the major religions in the world, every single one has evolved through political influences and biases. What do you think would have happened if mihindu hamuduruwo hadnt met Devanampiya tisssa, and instead had met some other normal person? what would have been the fate of christianity if augustus ddnt “invent” the bible?

  2. Doesn’t the variety of religious belief say something? Look beyond the Abrahamic faiths and there exist a multitude.
